Nothing, a company belonging to OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, will be launching its Nothing Ear 1 earbuds within the next few months at Selfridges in the UK.
With help from a recently announced retail partnership with Smartech Selfridges, Nothing will be getting to launch its Nothing Ear 1 earbuds sometime this summer at the high-end department store chain.
According to LaptopMag, however, specific details about this new product remain vague and virtually secret. To find out what is and can be known about the newly developed Nothing Ear 1 earbuds at present, read further for more!
What does the available information tell us?
“Ear 1 combines raw beauty with rich and precise sound for a pure listening experience.” Describes Nothing on the brand’s website. The company is based in London and aims to blur the lines between humans and technology in order to produce what it calls seamless digital furniture or, in other words, wearables that don’t feel like anything when put on.
With that, it can be assumed that the Nothing Ear 1 earbuds are meant to feel like nothing, but what about looks?
In Nothing’s Design Principles blog post, a pretty good sneak peak of the product was revealed, hinting that the upcoming product is going to be a pair of simultaneously plain and eye-catching transparent earbuds. Nothing too loud, but definitely something that could make somebody glance twice–if they’re sharp enough to catch a glimpse of its sleek clear frame in the first place.
Thanks to that post, “a first expression of our design principles, starting with transparency that embodies our commitment to bringing technology closer to people.” As the company states, we can expect the Nothing Ear 1 earbuds to sport a weightless, effortless, and timeless design.
When exactly is the launch?
The Nothing Ear 1 true wireless earbuds are to be the team’s first of many in its envisioned “ecosystem of connected devices with iconic designs”.
Though it was previously thought that the product would be released around this June, Carl Pei clarified with a Tweet that this wouldn’t be the case.
Excitingly, a post on Nothing’s official Instagram account disclosed that the company was essentially on the last leg of the wearable’s development. Looking at that alongside the brand’s fresh retail partnership with Selfridges, interested buyers can probably get their hopes up for a release this summertime.
Those eager to snatch up a pair of the Nothing Ear 1 earbuds as soon as they roll out can keep their eyes peeled over the next couple months for anything new on display at London’s physical Selfridges, or among the products on the Selfridges website.
The true wireless earbuds market has been flooding with new products rolling out almost nonstop in large quantities, and it’s hard to imagine how creative today’s manufacturers have to be in order to come up with models that don’t simply get lost in the current. Based on what we know about Nothing’s first upcoming earbuds, it’ll be intriguing to see how consumers react to the young brand’s unique concept. On the other hand, if transparent isn’t your cup of tea, a pair of Bose QuietComfort Wireless Bluetooth Headphones or Sony Noise Cancelling Headphones might better suit you if you prefer listening devices that are hard to miss.
