Vaccination is becoming easier and more accessible through the use of various applications such as Apple, Facebook, and Google. And today, Nextdoor, another application can bring you the convenience of finding and booking your vaccination appointment. Here is one less excuse to not have that vaccine shot.
Vaccination campaigns are still ongoing as the government continuously collaborates with private companies. This involves promoting and giving incentives to people already vaccinated. However, despite all the actions made by the administration, it seems to be insufficient. Biden may not be able to hit their target this coming July 4. Their current data is reported to be 4.6% short of the goal.
Vaccination Target
The White House initially targets getting 70% of adult Americans vaccinated by Independence Day. CNET reports this based on a post from the Washington Post last Tuesday. And because of this, the administration came up with a new goal which is to get 70% of adults aged 27 and above to have at least one shot until the July 4 weekend.
Based on a recent report by the CDC, younger adults aged 18-29 years old have a lower number of vaccinated people compared to other age groups. CDC or Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data from June 21 includes 65.4% of adults aged 18 and older already received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine.
How To Use The Nextdoor App?
Nextdoor recently launched a new mapping tool which will allow users a much easier way to find and book your appointment. This company made this possible through a collaboration with Albertsons Companies and Moderna bringing a much easier way to locate nearby pharmacies, schedule appointments and know more about why you need to have your shot now.
Moreover, you are not required to download and install the app to do so. You can access this mapping tool through the app, or your browser both in your smartphone and computer.
This platform is initially a way for people to connect with others within close proximities or “neighbors”. Also, communities come together and share local news, information, or stories with each other. Local businesses are also promoted and supported.
You can try this tool using this link. Engadget explains the process of how to access it. Once you are on their site, simply type in your ZIP code or city. It will then show you a list of pharmacies that offer vaccines. From there, you can then choose your location of choice, possibly the closest and most convenient. Then, it will prompt you with an option to “Schedule Appointment”. Click on this one and it may direct you either to the pharmacy’s website or Vaccines.gov.
This Nextdoor page also gives you access to the website for CDC. In case you want to acquire more information about the vaccines, determine which is the “best vaccine”, or the vaccination status of the country.
No Excuse Anymore
As mentioned, there are a variety of tools that Americans can use to gather information and news about vaccinations. Also, if you are unsure as to where you can get it or how to start, apps and sites are also available for you. Different sites and social media pages also provide easier access to everything you need to finally be vaccinated.
This is why Nextdoor may be a little late in this feature however, it is still needed to increase awareness and for the administration to then reach its target.
