The V12 engine is going out with a bang in the form of the 2022 Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae. Lamborghini is working on a new plug-in hybrid flagship, but the V12 engine is going out with a boom in the form of the 2022 Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae. It cherry-picks the finest of limited edition performance, design, and driving dynamics from Aventador over the past few years, making it the final incarnation of one of Lamborghini’s most distinctive — and guaranteed – successes.
So, Lamborghini assures, that means the rewarding driving experience of an Aventador S combined with the sheer performance of an Aventador SVJ, all wrapped up in “the definitive Aventador design.” As a final numbered series, only 350 coupes and 250 roadsters will be produced.
There will be a 6.5-liter V12 gas engine with 770 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque, regardless of roof. All-wheel drive and a 7-speed automatic transmission with a dizzying 8,700 rpm redline are standard, and the Independent Shifting Rod robotized shifts in 50ms. The Aventador LP780-4 Ultimae is, unsurprisingly, extremely fast.
0-62 mph takes 2.8 seconds in coupe form, and 0-124 mph takes just 8.7 seconds in roadster form; the roadster adds a tenth of a second to both times. Top speed is 220 miles per hour in either case.
A distinctive carbon fiber monocoque body is standard, as is four-wheel steering. The final weight is 3,417 pounds dry. A unique front bumper for increased downforce, air ducts and side cooling inlets to both deliver airflow and minimize tire drag, and a lightweight rear bumper are just a few of Lamborghini’s most notable aero innovations from recent years.
The rear wing is proactive, featuring a closed position as well as options for “maximum performance” and “maximum handling.” It utilizes vortex generators on the underside of the chassis for airflow and brake cooling in either case. The Aventador LP780-4 Ultimae is available in four different driving modes: Strada, Sport, Corsa, and the customized Ego.
Outside, new color palettes, including tone-on-tone finishes, are available: 18 hues are standard, with more than 300 available in the Lamborghini Ad Personam custom range. A visible carbon fiber roof is available for the roadster. The wheels are available in 20-inch and 21-inch forged alloys, with bronze, black, and titanium versions available as options; all are shod in Pirelli PZero Corsa rubber.
The fresh tone-on-tone color palette is beautiful while also evoking the Aventador’s initial design elements from the realm of aeronautics. 18 hues are normal, but Lamborghini Ad Personam offers an unmatched choice of possibilities and more than 300 colors, allowing owners to design their own, unique piece of Lamborghini V12 driving history.
Leather and Alcantara are used on the inside, with a Y-motif laser etched into the seats and dashboard as an option. The Aventador S is equipped with the same comfort seat as the Aventador, as well as a carbon fiber package. Apple CarPlay is supported by the infotainment system, and track tracking is possible with Lamborghini’s telemetry system.
With the exception of Mainland China, South Korea, Vietnam, Brazil, and Chile, the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae will be offered in coupe and roadster forms across the Lamborghini network from launch.
