As the public is seeing more and more iPhone 13 rumors as the fall launch gets closer, Apple reportedly orders 100 million A15 bionic chips to manufacture more phones.
Apple has reportedly asked its chip suppliers to increase its production by 20% compared to the iPhone 12 as reported by WCCF tech. Apple is now expecting a higher iPhone 13 demand hence the ramp up in chip production.
100 Million A15 Bionic Chips Ordered from TSMC
In order to assure that there will be no Apple smartphone availability issues, Apple has ordered 100 million A15 Bionic chips from its long time supplier, TSMC. This is a 20% production raise for all iPhone 13 parts.
However, according to the article by PhoneArena, not all of these over 100 million A15 chips would be specifically for the iPhone 13 series. The rumor notes that Apple might actually keep a few extra stock for other devices as well that use the same chip as the Apple smartphone.
iPad Mini 6th Gen
An example of other devices that would use the same chip would be the iPad mini 6th gen which is expected to be unveiled this 2021.
Other reports have also stated that the iPhone SE 2022 is going to come with the A15 Bionic. Most of the chips, however, are reportedly reserved for the iPhone 13 series.
How is the A15 Different from the A14
When it comes to the CPU core count, the A15 Bionic will reportedly have the same as the A14 which sports six total cores, two of which are designed for performance while the other four are directly focused on the device’s power efficiency.
The improvement that the A15 is expected to bring is reportedly related to the TSMC manufacturing process that will reportedly be a more advanced type of 5nm process. The new A15 should technically provide a more power-efficient experience compared to the current 5nm A14.
iPhone 13 Specs
Now, with the rumored 120Hz display refresh rate specs for the Apple iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the upgraded power efficiency should be put to a test.
The new Apple iPhone 13 series is now expected to unveil this coming September, 2021. This is where Apple should give fans more details regarding the upcoming A15 Bionic as well as the improvements that it should give to the new Apple smartphone compared to its own predecessors.
The new iPhone 13 uses the A15 chip and it seems like Apple is expecting an increased demand for its new handheld smartphone. Of course, we’ll have to see when the final specs have been revealed to the public. Once the Apple smartphone has officially been revealed, this is when we might be able to make a conclusion as to whether or not the demand will truly increase.
