Shopping is made easier once more by another social media giant, Twitter. The company is testing the “Shop Module” which lets users shop directly from brand’s profiles. It is the latest platform to offer shopping features to their users, together with Facebook and Instagram. Here are the details of this exciting new feature.
Online shopping has been present in almost all platforms. Aside from your favorite shopping sites like Amazon and eBay. Social media platforms have started to take play into the e-commerce world. People find it more convenient to use one platform for everything, making online shopping more prominent. More so, brands get to create more connection and interaction with their customers through these platforms.
“Shop Module”: How Does It Work?
Twitter announced through a blog post that it is testing its newest shopping feature “Shop Module”. They will be testing this by allowing selected brands to place links of the products they offer. These brands include GameStop and bag-maker Arden Cove, among others. Only around 10 brands with professional profiles have the option to use it as of this time.
Through the “Shop Module”, brands and businesses can already feature their products directly on their profile. As indicated in their blog post, it is “a feature that allows us to explore how shoppable profiles can create a pathway from talking about and discovering products on Twitter to actually purchasing them.”
Consequently, their followers and potential customers will find it easier to see what they can purchase. TechCrunch explains that this feature includes a carousel of product images you can scroll through and simply tap on a product you want to purchase. From here, it becomes much easier as it already opens the brand’s website where you can learn more about the product and successfully buy it.
The company knows how important conversations are. And that is what they are trying to cultivate using the feature. As the testing period starts, the company will try to understand and gather feedback from users about shopping experiences and how the platform can improve it.
Twitter’s E-commerce Platform
Initially, the company already tried venturing into e-commerce. They have been working on more investments in e-commerce by testing more features that will help business increase sales and interact more with potential customers. One step was through adding features like ‘Buy Now’ button, product pages, and product collections.
In line with the ‘Shop Module’, the social media giant recently offered “professional profiles” earlier this year. This feature highlights brands and businesses, which can be small businesses or major brands, across the platform to have their own customized profiles. These Professional profiles have flexible features that increase engagement with customers. Aside from that, they can also provide their customers information such as address, phone number, operating hours, and others. It can be compared to Facebook’s Page for business.
TechCrunch also added that the company will be working directly with business owners to determine their needs more. Also, they established a new Merchant Advisory Board to show “best-in-class examples” that can assist brands more.
All these platforms bring much more options for both businesses and consumers and people may expect from Twitter in the e-commerce world.
