The long war happening in Afghanistan has now turned to TikTok.
Last Friday, July 27, a video of TikTok comedian Nazar Mohammad went viral on Twitter. This was after the said comedian was kidnapped by a group of men– later known as members of the Taliban. The spokesman of the Islamist and military group of Afghanistan confirmed in a report that Mohammad was executed by the group.
Why Nazar Mohammad was killed
Nazar Mohammad, also known as Khasha Zwan, was a TikTok star and comedian in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province. He gained popularity on TikTok after posting ‘humorous’ videos about the Taliban group.
“His murder and other recent abuses demonstrate the willingness of Taliban commanders to violently crush even the tamest criticism or objection,” she added.
Initially, the group of Taliban didn’t claim the said death of the comedian. Until, one viral video circulated on Twitter. The said raw video was also posted by RTA World on their Twitter page.
WARNING: This video is not suitable for children or people with a fainted heart.
Based on the video, Mohammed was seen tied at the back of his hands while two men with long firearms were seated at each of his sides. There were other men who also seemed laughing or smiling outside the vehicle. Mohammed on the other hand looks scared with a bit of smiling reaction on his face.
He was talking to the guy on his right side when he was suddenly slapped twice in the face.
Taliban confirmed his death
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid was interviewed by several news portals wherein he confirmed that the said men on the video were members of the Taliban.
He added on the report that the two men were already arrested and soon-to-be tried for murder. Mujahid also said that the TikTok comedian was an alleged member of Afghan National Police– which triggered the Islam group to retaliate against him.
Despite the claims, the Taliban spokesman clarified that their group believes that he should not have died in the arms of the Islam group. He said that Taliban men should have taken him to court for a proper trial.
The US and Afghanistan war
The war between the United States forces and Afghanistan has now turned into America’s longest war.
As reported via PBS, the reason for the said war started back in the year 2001. The US forces were tasked to end and destroy the infamous Al Qaeda over their alleged bombing in the 9/11 attack. After two decades, now-President Joe Biden ordered the military to end the war in Afghanistan.
Due to this, 95% of army troops originally assigned in the country have now left. Unfortunately, other Afghan residents, including children and women, are still waiting for their visas to go to America.
On Sunday, August 1, The Guardian reported that the US forces are now launching emergency airlifts to the affected area in the country.
