Win up to $500,000!
On Friday, Aug. 6, Business Insider and Bloomberg reported about Amazon’s new program to encourage workers to get vaccinated. This program is called ‘Max your Vax.’ The ‘Max your Vax’ is an open contest for all Amazon workers that were already vaccinated against COVID-19. Amazon is reportedly giving out up to $500,000 once you win the contest.
Amazon contest for vaccination
As first reported via Bloomberg, Amazon announces its plans to give prizes to those workers who had already vaccinated themselves against COVID-19. According to the report, workers have the chance to win a total of 18 prizes.
Amazon reportedly allotted $2 million for the said contest. Winners have the chance to win two $500,000 cash prizes, six $100,000 cash prizes, five brand new cars, and five vacation packages.
Unfortunately, the report did not detail how the contest works. Or whether it is a raffle setup where employees win through random picking. One thing that is sure is that only Amazon workers are allowed to join the said contest.
Specifically, Amazon invites frontline workers. These are the employees who are working inside the offices and factories of Amazon. Employees that are hourly workers at Whole Foods Market and Amazon Fresh grocery stores and in Amazon Web Services data centers are also encouraged to join the contest.
Amazon vaccination and return of mask-wearing
Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said in an email that vaccination among their employees is one of the most important things their company has been doing for the past months now.
He proudly shared that over 1,000 on-site vaccination setups are already located in their offices. In this way, employees would no longer be hesitant to take vaccines.
As also recently reported, Amazon is now going back to the basics in COVID-19 preventive measures. The company announced that face masks are now required again inside the Amazon facilities for all employees. This is regardless of whether they’re vaccinated or not.
The company confirmed this news to The Verge where they cited the Delta variant as the primary reason for the new rules.
In response to the concerning spread of new COVID-19 variants in the U.S. and guidance from public health authorities and our own medical experts, we are requiring face coverings indoors regardless of vaccination status. We are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to follow local government guidance and work closely with leading medical healthcare professionals, gathering their advice and recommendations as we go forward to ensure our buildings are optimized for the safety of our teams.
US vaccination rate
In the recent report of Al Jazeera, the United States is now increasing its numbers of vaccination rate in the country. This was after people are getting anxious about the latest COVID variant.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said an average of about 600,000 doses were being administered daily across the country as of July 29, a 16 percent increase from a week prior.
As added on the report, 70 percent of adults have already received the first dose of the COVID vaccine.
