The Google Play Store has been given a major redesign as Google comes under increasing pressure from other companies offering similar features. Google’s previous design was often cited as being somewhat difficult to navigate and somewhat old-fashioned, both of which Google is looking to resolve with its new design.
Now, the possible redesign is something that Android Police found on their own. Here’s what it could possibly look like.
Google Play Store redesign?
The Play Store application on Android gadgets is updated frequently, but the website has long been neglected. The current Google Play website design dates back to 2013.
The site has not changed much since then. It has small tweaks, but it still looks like it used to. Google is moving on from this type of website because they don’t want people to see ads. The new site is just like the app that you can install on your phone.
In 2013, Google thought the Play Store would have all of Google’s content in it. But now the store isn’t so powerful because other stores have a lot of content too.
Over the last several years, music has been removed from Google Play Music and incorporated into YouTube. Podcasts are now hosted at Google Podcasts, which may be taken over by YouTube in the future. Premium Hollywood video content is currently available on YouTube and Google Play Movies & TV, since they both offer paid premium Hollywood video content.
Google Play is now only home to apps, movies, and books. It’s very odd because there are not many games on this new Google Play.
With a focus on applications, the Play Store appears to be getting a lot more effective in assisting consumers in locating the apps they’re searching for.
Changes to expect
If you’re expecting some changes on Play Store, here are the rumored changes that we might see soon.
According to a report, the new Play Store will be able to restrict the Play Store to mobile apps, tablets, televisions, Chromebooks, smartwatches, and automobiles.
Unfortunately, there is no sign of dark-mode support yet. There’s also no “Material You” color scheme, which is Android 12’s new color-matching UI, in the settings menu. The phone app integrates your wallpaper’s overall color scheme, while the website remains a stark white. Google claims it will one day synchronize your color preferences across your Google account and allow it to work on the web.
Of course, Android Police reiterated that the design could still be “a work in progress.” Thus, we might still wait for a while.
Google Play Store interface
Google Play Store has been Google’s content storefront for all Android devices since 2008.
Google has been trying to increase app installs, which means the company needs more users on their platform and a better way to market apps.
Google Play Store has millions of applications people can download from Google’s servers, but the tech giant wants more installs for this tremendous inventory. Also, Google has been trying to encourage app developers to have a better way of marketing their exciting apps for all users.
With that, it means Google is really trying something innovative to get more users soon.
