Oppo has confirmed that it is “one of the first” OEMs to receive the all-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, and that a phone based on it will be available by the end of the first quarter of 2022. Meanwhile, it has certified a new device that could or could not be the company’s first foldable phone.
Even though Samsung is the most well-known name in foldable phones, with its top-spec Galaxy Z Fold 3 being its most recent top-end bending handset, a rival device from Oppo could soon overtake it.
The Oppo Find N has been rumored for a while, though the name isn’t official. According to its rumors and specifications, this phone appears to be a strong contender for the top spot on our list of the best foldable phones – and some reports claim it will be released very soon.
Meanwhile, the same manufacturer has joined the growing list of companies rushing to release cutting-edge flagship smartphones based on Qualcomm’s brand-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. This alleged “Find X4 Pro” and the rumored foldable phone are unlikely to be the same, as the latter has been rumored to be powered by the 8 Gen 1’s predecessor, the 888.

According to rumors, the Oppo Find N’s unfolded screen will be between 7.8 and 8 inches wide. The main display will reportedly have a refresh rate of 120Hz, while the outer one will reportedly remain at 60Hz.
There are also rumors that there will be three rear cameras: a 50MP main camera and a 32MP selfie camera.
The phone is also expected to have a Snapdragon 888 processor, a 4,500mAh battery, and a 65W charger.
But when will we be able to see it? One source believes it will be released by the end of December. On December 14, Oppo will hold its annual Inno Day, which could be when we see the device.
What we don’t know
The Oppo Find N’s specs appear to be adequate, but we don’t know enough about it to get too excited just yet – and those specs alone aren’t enough to qualify the phone as a viable Galaxy Z Fold competitor.
The name of the foldable, Oppo, is even more promising. The Find N could have an advantage over other foldable rivals because of the company’s history of producing phones with excellent displays and cameras.
The Find X3 Pro, for example, had a “Full-Path Color Management System,” which basically prevents compression from ruining the look of streaming videos and improves them. Such features could give the Find N an advantage when it comes to viewing media.
Furthermore, when it comes to cameras, Oppo frequently outperforms its competitors. Oppo collaborated with Sony to develop a unique main camera sensor for the Reno 5, which was later used in the X3 Pro and produced vibrant images.
We don’t know enough about the phone’s display or camera capabilities, but based on Oppo’s track record and previous phones, we’re already excited for the Find N.
When the Oppo Find N goes on sale, we’ll be watching to see if it’s the game-changing foldable phone that can compete with Samsung’s alternatives.
