In a shared screenshot online, the upcoming Redmi 10 2022 model features the same SoC and adequate Geekbench test results.
After receiving mixed feelings towards the recent Redmi Note 12 series launch, Xiaomi is now rumored to release the budget device Redmi 10. However, although it’s the model’s 2022 variant, some things will still remain unchanged.
Xiaomi Redmi 10 will launch with MediaTek Helio G88
For months now, there have been several leaks and talks about the next generation of the company’s budget phone. Luckily, this week, Xiaomi fans will now at least have something to expect.
On a shared Geekbench result screenshot online, it’s said that the Redmi 10 will feature the same SoC as last year’s variant. As such, even with new chips from both MediaTek and Qualcomm, Xiaomi will still most likely ship the phone with Helio G88.
When talking about performance, the screenshot suggested that the device scored 367 on Single-Core and 1253 on Multi-Core tests. However, there is no included information about OpenCL and Vulkan scores, so improvements for gaming are still unlikely.
Similar specs and minor changes
Based on rumors, aside from the SoC, the Redmi 10 2022 variant will also have mostly the same specs as last year. Unfortunately, according to leaked EU certifications previously, the phone might even downgrade from 5000 to 4900 mAh battery.
Regarding cameras, Xiaomi’s budget device will feature an unchanged 50MP main shooter and 8MP selfie one. However, there’s still a low chance of the phone using a different or upgraded sensor this time.
If ever this will happen, based on some ECC or Eurasian Economic Commission listings, there are different possible candidates for sensors from different companies as well. For the primary rear camera, the device will likely get either the 50MP sensor OmniVision OV50C40 or the S5KJN1 from Samsung.
In regards to the front selfie shooter, the options can be the same or worse than last year. If the Xiaomi Redmi 10 won’t get the IMX355 8MP sensor from Sony, fans will have to accept the inferior 2MP OV02B1B camera from OmniVision.
Upon launch, this handset will offer 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB choices, both probably with eMMC 5.1 storage. Lastly, it’s expected that the company will ship to customers with MIUI 13 (based on Android 12) out of the box.
Previous leaks about the Xiaomi Redmi 10
Even though this news only reached more people this week, the rumors for the upcoming Xiaomi device have actually been going on for a while now. Aside from the first report on MySmartPrice, which shows the phone’s model number 21121119VL, various government registration listings also corroborated the story.
As an example, even before the leaked Geekbench result screenshot, the phone was already spotted on an official listing on the US’ FCC or Federal Communications Commission. And again, as mentioned earlier, it was thanks to the Eurasian Economic Commission or ECC that fans have learned about the device’s potential cameras.
