Motorola Razr 3 To Have Bigger Cover Screen Than The Flip 4?

Motorola opted out of the foldable race in 2021, but it’s looking increasingly likely that the third-generation Motorola Razr will be released this year. The Motorola Razr 3 is expected to have a more refined design, ditching the chunky bottom bezel and notch in favor of a more squared-off appearance. It will reportedly resemble the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 rather than the Motorola Razr 5G 2020.

Ross Young, a display insider, has confirmed the rumors, adding that both the inner and outer displays will be larger. The Motorola Razr 2022 will have a 6.7-inch internal panel and a 3-inch external screen, according to Ross. The Razr 5G has a 6.2-inch main screen and a 2.7-inch cover display.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3, which was the most popular foldable phone last year, has a 6.7-inch main display and a smaller 1.9-inch secondary display. The Flip 4 is expected to have a slightly larger external screen than the Flip 3.

Motorola is reportedly not only redesigning the Razr 3, but also upgrading its internals. The Razr 5G had mid-tier specs, but the Razr 3 could have top-tier specs.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip will allegedly power the device, which will be paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The camera specs are also likely to be better than the Razr 5G’s.

Another feature of the Razr 3 is that it will support ultra wideband. This is what enables tracking and unlocking of supported vehicles. In the coming years, UWB will become a feature on more and more flagship phones.

The Razr 3 will most likely come with Android 12.

A large number of images for the Motorola Razr 3  (codenamed “Maven”) have been leaked by Evan Blass. According to Blass, Motorola will go for a boxier, more squared-off design than previous models, while also removing the ‘chin.’

According to the leaked images, the new Razr 3 will be available in two color choices: Tranquil Blue and Quartz Black.

An OmniVision OV50A 50MP main camera sensor and a 13MP ultrawide sensor with macro capabilities are rumored to be included. The Razr 3 will have a 32MP selfie camera on the front.

The Razr 3’s rear and front cameras will be able to record up to 4K at 60 frames per second. According to reports, the rear camera will also record slo-mo video at 1080p 120 frames per second.

A 50MP f/1.8 main sensor is expected, along with a 13MP ultra-wide camera and macro sensor, according to another Motorola Razr 2022 leak from Evan Blass. Though megapixels aren’t everything, this could make it a better camera phone than the speculated Galaxy Z Flip 4.

Release date rumors

While there isn’t much information available, the German site TechnikNews claims that the Razr 3 will be released in June 2022. Take this with a grain of salt, as it is based on the site’s sources.

Motorola would have plenty of time to get things right if the device was released this summer. It would also provide time for Android 12L to mature. 12L is a version of Android designed for foldable devices that provides a better user interface than what is currently available.
