Adding more live sports to The Roku Channel’s premium subscription menu is Paramount+.
For those who are not aware with The Roku Channel, it is a free entertainment channel that can be accessed on the majority of streaming devices, apart from Apple TV, and that provides a selection of expensive add-on services like Showtime, Starz, AMC+, and others.
Later this month, the premium subscription service Paramount+ with all of its movies, TV programs, original programming, 24/7 news, and live sports will be available on The Roku Channel. For the first time, live sports content will be accessible to streamers within Premium Subscriptions, The Roku Channel’s streamlined browsing and sign-up experience. The launch delivers live sports from the most well-known major leagues, including the NFL on CBS and UEFA Champions League.
For the first time ever, Roku has built a programming guide for a premium subscription partner, and The Roku Channel has done the same for all live Paramount+ content. The new Live TV Guide aims to make it simpler for viewers to navigate Paramount+’s live entertainment offerings.
Both Paramount’s $4.99/month Essential Plan with ads and its $9.99/month ad-free Premium Plan will be available on the Roku Channel. Additionally, subscribers get a free seven-day trial, it will let people who haven’t used the service to try out its features.
The most popular sports on Paramount+ can be explored, along with news from CBS News Network and Entertainment Tonight. Premium customers have access to their neighborhood CBS station in real time. Although Paramount+, which replaced CBS All-Access in March, is still a relatively young participant in the utterly crowded streaming market, the firm once known as ViacomGlobal has loaded the upstart streamer with a ton of programming. By giving T-Mobile and Xbox Game Pass subscribers free trials, it also made an effort to expand its audience. Such efforts appear to have been fruitful, as Paramount+’s 40 million customers in May put it on par with HBO Max and Hulu’s US subscriber bases.
Although live sports have been available to customers on The Roku Channel since 2018, this is the first time they have had access to a “premium” live sports service. The Roku Channel also broadcasts lesser-known channels like Adventure Sports Network, COMBT GO, EDGEsport, Stadium, and Wham Network in addition to the new offers.
Users with Premium Subscriptions receive a single monthly bill, making subscription administration straightforward. The Roku Channel offers Premium Subscriptions to more than 50 services, including the most recent addition, Discovery+. Discovery+ was the first subscription video-on-demand service that Roku’s Premium Subscriptions offered with an ad tier.
So again the cost of Paramount+ on the Roku Channel is $4.99 per month for the version that includes ads and $9.99 per month for the version that does not. It’s not new for Paramount+ to join a subscription service like Roku; the service is also accessible on Apple TV+ Channels and Amazon’s Prime Video Channels.
