“Note that Beta codes are tied to your Activision account, and are platform agnostic, meaning you can access the Beta on your hardware of choice.”
The first weekend is September 16–20, with the first two days free for Modern Warfare 2 pre-orderers. All PS4 and PS5 users can participate in an open beta from September 18 to 20. A PlayStation Plus membership is not required to access the beta, according to Infinity Ward.
For Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation users, weekend two is September 22–26; once more, the first two days are reserved for pre-orders. Cross-platform play is available during the open beta period, which runs from September 24 to 26. According to Infinity Ward, PC gamers will need a free Battle.net or Steam account, and Xbox players will need an Xbox Live Gold subscription.
The beta will “[go] beyond the Core 6v6 experience,” according to Infinity Ward’s designers, featuring a range of maps at various sizes and play types. The Marina Bay Grand Prix will be one of them; the map was unveiled on Sunday during the Call of Duty League Championship.
With fighting in Modern Warfare 2 taking place on the infield of a street racetrack, it appears like Call of Duty is joining the Formula One frenzy. Pre-order customers also have access to the FJX Cinder Weapon Vault and “all four of the Red Team 141 Operators – Ghost, Farah, Price, and Soap.”
On September 15, Call of Duty Next, a livestream event hosted by Infinity Ward and Activision, will provide more information. The company proclaimed that this is an era-defining franchise event highlighting the immediate future of Call of Duty. On the show, further details will be revealed about both the upcoming Call of Duty Warzone for mobile devices and the upcoming Call of Duty Warzone.
Those who pre-order the game will be given early access; complete instructions on how to access the beta can be found on the Call of Duty blog.
